The snow leopard inhabits the mountain areas of central Asia. There it lives in the rocky habitats. Its length ranges from 1.2-1.5 metres (4-5 feet) with a tail of 1 meter long (3 feet). Is weight is over 30 kg (75 lb). It has got a wonderful yellow–brown long fur with dark spots all over its muscular and strong body. It is able to make 16 metres long leap.
Uncia uncia spends its life in areas that are 4 000 m (13 000 ft) above the sea level. During winter time this solitary cat goes lower (about 2 000 m, 6 500 ft) where goats and other domestic animals are an easy prey for this carnivore. Besides it feeds on wild sheep, deer, hares, rodents and even birds. Approximately 3 small young are born from April till June.
